Phi

Overview

Azure Phi refers to Microsoft’s family of small language models (SLMs) available through Azure. These models are designed to deliver strong performance in text, reasoning, and multimodal tasks while using fewer resources than larger AI models. That means they can run with lower cost, faster responses, and on a wider range of deployment targets — from cloud to edge and on-device scenarios.

The Phi model family supports developers and businesses building AI applications that need natural language understanding, generation, reasoning, or multimodal capabilities. You can fine-tune these models to specific tasks or integrate them via APIs within Azure and AI toolchains.
